I hate RUDE students

Today has been a great day! I wish the sun was out shinning bright like a diamond.  Despite the cloudy day, I have been productive in my studies and keeping the library in order. I have helped several students with their assignments and reviewed a student’s brochure. I allowed a student to eat in the library today which was a mistake. I came in to see his trash on the floor. He said he was going to pick it up and I told him this is why I do not allow students to eat in the library. He replies “You didn't let me do anything.” I then had to politely tell him that I did and in fact I could have asked you to leave when I noticed you eating but I didn't. He then replies “oh are you the librarian or something?” I then tell him yes I am but I thought to myself how RUDE! I actually felt better after this conversation because other students were in the lab and heard the whole conversation. I realized with this position you have to stand your ground and keep the rules the same across the board. From now on if I see a student eating in the library I will immediately ask them to leave. I want respect and I will get respect! 

ALL WEEK I HAVE BEEN WAITING

I am happy today is Friday. ALL WEEK I have been very busy! I enjoyed my week at work because it went by fast. Ms. Neely and I had great conversation. Ms. Neely is the librarian that I assist by the way!  I helped students with papers and assignments. I have helped students find books and taught them how to use the system catalog to find book on their own. I spoke to a couple of students in regards to occupational therapy month. I am glad today is really quite and the students are well behaved today. Enjoy you weekend people because I am!

last day of "Spring Break"

I am so happy its FRIDAY!!!! I start a new job tonight and I am happy. I complete the occupational therapy wall and all the handouts! I feel great and I hope my little cold goes away. Students are scuffling in today to take the compass test. I hope the library remains quiet for a while.

good day...sad moment

Today was a great day for me!  I had awesome conversation and researched a lot of interesting things about occupational therapy. I am so in love with the variety of things you can do with this field. I perfected the occupational therapy wall today. I came up with some great ideas for the white board announcements. I am eager to start class next week. I helped with library tours today and resheveled a few books. I just seen as student who normally comes in here every day and I help him with is assignments and resumes. He got beat up really bad and has stitches on his head and over his eye. He told me three guys robbed him for 40 dollars and his breeze card when he offered them 50 cent to leave another guy alone. He said there were about 50 people that just stood around and watched the guys beat him down. I wanted to cry listening to his story. He is a really nice person and he did not deserve this. My heart goes out to him and I hope he will be ok. Through it all he is still walking around smiling saying that he is glad he alive. I know I serve a powerful God and this is an amazing story. I can’t believe nobody even would call the police to help him out. He said he had friends there that just watched him get beat down.

Great Day!!!

I am back! I took a day because I was sick. I am feeling great today and today was a great day. I finished my OT wall decorations and I helped plenty of students today. Job well done 

Spring Break

Today is the first day for spring break! I am here at the library. I gave several tours today and meet great students. I am going to work on the wall for next month.

I woke up this morning and claimed today to be a good day for me and that’s exactly what I am having. It is cold outside but I feel warm inside. The library is quiet today and I hope it stay like that. I shelved some books and restocked the copy paper. Have a GREAT DAY!!!

Today is National Happy Day!

The sun is finally shining bright today. I had a very productive day. the library is in order and it is quite. I love peace and quite. This is a good day to study but I just finished this course and I am in such a great relief! This by far was the worst class because of group work. Be happy and remember to smile because someone who wants to smile can not!

Cloudy Day

Today has been a great day thus far! I am not stressed and I feel great. Today I have a helped a few students and I talked with some about the job fair. I am going to count some more books today. I will try to keep busy so that the day goes by fast because I am tired.

Today was a good day. I helped many students and a counted some more books. I enjoyed work and I am stress free. 

Motivation Monday

Today today today....ummmm it’s been interesting. I have completely given up on being a leader in my group work for class and decided not to get upset because of other people's lack of work. I feel like I am in class with a bunch of people who really do not have a clue of what occupational therapy is and just really do not care about their grades. I guess I am the only person in class who thoroughly reads the assignment and actually cares to work ahead of time so that I am not rush in the same day an assignment is due. I am actually pissed off by their disrespect for my final grade. I am not saying that the groups needed to work ahead like me but if we agree to put a paper together Monday  morning and when I arrive the group doesn’t even have their work completed correctly I just want to scream. Well there it is I vented on here for the first time. I feel a little bit of relief. I will continue to pray for better days and I hope I never have to work with these same group members again accept for Lillian and Megan! Today in the library has been really relaxed. I am working on a new project this week. I have to count the books in the library. I think we probably have less than 2000 but I could be wrong! I’ll let you know what the end count is....stay tuned!

 I am enjoying the day in the library although it is very hot in here. I am helping students and getting a lot of my personal work done at the same time. I hope the sun will come out at some point. I plan to work on another lesson plan and submit my articles today! Happy HUMP day!

Sun Light

Today I got bad news from my job that I will not be able to work on the night of a big event. This news basically ruined my day. I walked into the library and there was a lot of sun light so it made me feel better. The library is quite and the students are working independently. I feel good when I come in here because there is always order. I feel like the rest of my day is never organized and I always have million things going on. My task for today is to complete lesson plans for two workshops and finish up on my two articles for a school newspaper that may or may not get printed. I hope it gets published but if it does not I will still be happy because I wrote about interesting things.

Wow! I am so excited it’s Friday. I had a long rough week. I enjoyed my day today working in the library. I helped a few students. I sorted through the periodicals section and organized all the newspaper in the library which was relaxing. I had another rude student come into the library today but I just ignored her rude comments because IM HAPPY. I think it is foolish to let simple people get you upset. I enjoy coming into the library to work and help students and I will not let one or two students ruin my attitude. I am also preparing a really nice article for the school newspaper this coming month. I will be finished with the article Monday. I hope you have a great weekend my little book worms!

 

I was here BUT not mentally

Yesterday was Monday and I had a very long weekend, which is why I forgot to post a blog. I was so tired and the day dragged. I enjoyed working in the library yesterday because it was relaxed. My boss gave me a compliment on the wall I designed last week Friday.  I felt proud of myself.  The weather was terrible yesterday and is the same for me today. I am having another relaxed day today and the weather is still cloudy and cold. The library is quite and me and my boss have been talking since I got to work about whatever comes to mind. 

SHORT DAY YAY!!!

Hello,

Today I am only working three hours in the library. It is sunny outside and its Friday so I’m in a great mood. Today was laid back and calm in the library. I only helped one student today and there has only been about ten students total that I seen come thru the door. I guess since its Friday and the last day of classes this month everyone decided to stay home which is a good thing. I got the wall decorated for women’s history month next month and my boss was pleased with the finished product. She is always in a good mood which is a great! I love my job….minus the rude students at time. 

THURSDAY feels like FRIDAY

I woke up this morning at 8:00 a.m. on the dot, refreshed and ready to take on the day. I love Thursday’s because I do not have class on Fridays. I entered the library to peace and quiet and that is always a great thing. I helped a student do something so simple which is add a reference to her paper. These students are lazy and they come into the library looking for me to their work for them. I don’t mind helping but if you cannot help yourself or at least try to it gets on my nerves. This situation is something that I face on a daily basis so I brush it off most times. I think if people had more drive and confidence they would be able to do well in their studies here at Brown Mackie College Atlanta. The rest of my day I plan to design the wall for next month, which is women’s history month. Until next time be blessed never stressed.

I love Wednesday's like I love Monday's. Today is cloudy outside and rainy. I drove to school in a rush because I was running late. I hate to be late. I love to be on time. Once I got to the library I still managed to be 15 minutes late. I will continue to work on this problem because I refuse to be late again. When I got here the library had a few students working in the lab. I began my day by restocking both printers with paper. I enjoyed doing this. I restocked the paper cabinet as well for the first time today. I then went to sit down at my desk to work on my project for next month that is due this Friday. The students in the lab began to get loud and the noise level was unbearable. I politely entered the lab and asked the students to quiet down please. This one student has the nerve to reply to me stating THAT IF I WORKED IN THE LIBRARY THAT I NEEDED TO TALK LIKE I WAS FROM ATLANTA! This was one of the most ignorant comments I have heard since I've been working here. I didn't get offended because I expect these types of comments from my fellow students at Brown Mackie College Atlanta. I just simply turned around and walked away. I will never SPEAK like I am from Atlanta! I will always speak with a BOSTON accent. I am me!

I really do not want to be here today. My mind is overwhelmed. There is a scheduled test everyday this week. I hope nobody comes in the library.

Monday Fun Day

Today was a great day for me at the library. I love Mondays because it is the start of a new week. I really enjoy helping others with their school work and other projects. Today I had the opportunity to help many students with papers. I also taught a couple of students how to make graphs and charts using Microsoft word. I enjoyed organizing the letters for the displays in the library. Organization is key, especially when you are working in a library. I really enjoy order and peace and quiet.

I am excited about today. I am here at the library early today and the sun is shinning bright. I have a test today so I will be watching the clock. The students are here and working like busy bees on different projects. There is a steady traffic flow in the library. I enjoy watching people in the library. Today will be a good day for me!

Long Snow Break

Hello,
Today is a really pretty day outside and a busy day inside the library. I like the fact that I had a long unplanned vacation due to the weather here in Atlanta. I have not been to school or work since Monday. When I got here today there was more people here than I expected. I helped my boss with sorting papers and I helped some students in the computer lab. I plan to come back in the afternoon and hopefully the library will still be full of smiling faces and postive engery. Have a GREAT day.

Day number 4

Today is a rainy day outside. I woke up in a good mood ready to get to work early. The weather is supposed to be bad therefore I am working a spilt shift in the library today so that I do not have to close the library at 9:00 p.m... I had a great day yesterday. It was very quiet in the library with only four students. Today I plan to help as many students as I can and meet new students. I really enjoy the fact that I get to give tours of the library to students.

Hello,

My name is Sharice Javies. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia from Winston Salem, North Carolina in August 2012. I started the occupational therapy assistant program at Brown Mackie College of Atlanta in August 2013. I am excited to announce that I have been accepted as the new work study student in the library. My first day working as a work study student was yesterday. I started my day off with a tour of the library. I got the chance to understand the operations of the library and meet new people. I helped organize some books that were out of place and I assisted students with their school work in the computer lab. I must say I think that working in the library will be a good fit for me.
